One of our best-remembered MFF2019 documentaries was We Are the Radical Monarchs, a powerful and inspiring doc about the newest generation of civic activists and justice advocates. We're thrilled that, on July 20 at 9 p.m. Central, this incredible film will kick off the 33rd season of POV on PBS!
The Radical Monarchs are a troop of young Oakland girls of color who earn badges for social activism, march in protests, and practice radical love. Two-time MFF alumna Linda Goldstein Knowlton (Somewhere Between) follows the troop and its leaders as they empower young women of color to take up space, love themselves, and smash the patriarchy.
