Please join us in wishing a fond farewell to our MFA Director Suzanne Jurva, who is stepping down from her position to refocus on her filmmaking career! What follows is a statement from Suzanne herself:

"After a whirlwind year and a half of working alongside Milwaukee Film to help establish and grow the Milwaukee Filmmaker Alliance into what it is today (an incredible, strong initiative running over 400 members strong), I will be stepping down from my current role as director of the MFA in order to focus on my filmmaking career.

As many of you already know, I come from a background in the film industry, having screened my work all over the world (including the Milwaukee Film Festival). And while this background helped fuel the vision and passion that launched the MFA, it now calls me to step away, as I have so many stories I’m excited to put into the world.

While I’m stepping down, I won’t be disappearing. My last day as director is Friday, January 18, but will continue to work with the MFA in a consultant capacity on economic development - in the last six months alone, we’ve brought $100,000 worth of filmmaking jobs to Milwaukee! This ability is perfectly suited to my wheelhouse, and to continue a focus on it will be most beneficial to the local filmmaking community. Molly Veh, our extraordinarily capable and intelligent MFA Programs Manager, will now be handling the day-to-day operations of the MFA, and I feel strongly that she will excel in this role.

I am both humbled and excited by the support you’ve all provided both myself and the MFA, and I can’t wait to see how the MFA grows and expands in the coming months and years. I look forward to interacting with you at future MFA functions as a fellow filmmaker.

Onward and upward,
Suzanne Jurva"

Thank you for everything you've done for the MFA and MKE Film, Suzanne!
