Our Time

Esther and Juan are a couple in rural Mexico, raising fighting bulls and enjoying an open marriage, but all of that is threatened when an American horsebreaker enters their home and Esther’s heart, sending Juan into uncontrollable jealousy. Sweeping and grand in scope, and yet deeply human and intimate, this emotional and visual masterpiece marks the return of director Carlos Reygadas (Post Tenebras Lux) in his beautiful study of marriage and intimacy.

"The rare spiritual drama that not only feels genuinely mysterious, but also appears to have been made by people who are aware of and interested in their human characters' flaws." - RogerEbert.com

"The fifth feature by the often-controversial and always-intriguing auteur feels profound in intention and poetically grand in scope. Reygadas, for the first time, appears less slightly cerebral and more approachably terrestrial." - The Wrap

"There isn't a single sequence in the film which feels unneeded or doesn't contribute to a larger understanding of why time is of such essence to each of us, but for completely different reasons." - Film Inquiry
