Science on Screen!

Join us for a screening of Gattaca preceded by a fascinating talk from Dr. James Verbsky of the Medical College of Wisconsin. He will delve into the buzzy topic of genetics and present a brief background on the subject, discuss how genetic variants may or may not cause disease, and then introduce CRISPR technology and ethical issues related to its use.

Gattaca - In a dystopian future that prizes ideal DNA above all, a genetically inferior man assumes the identity of a superior one in order to pursue his lifelong dream of space travel.

An initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre. With major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
