Past Member Screenings

Members screenings include exclusive previews of upcoming releases and the very best films that might not otherwise play on the big screen, giving Milwaukee Film members the chance to be the first to experience daring new voices, overlooked gems, and ambitious independent work the way it was meant to be seen.

Each year we also celebrate cinema history with a landmark classic, hold a Super Secret Members-Only screening during the Milwaukee Film Festival, program a members-choice screening that puts the curatorial power directly in your hands, AND invite members to a festival preview screening offering an early look at one of our favorite films ahead of the spring Milwaukee Film Festival.

Here’s some recent favorites screened only for members during our free monthly Members-Only Screenings:

A headshot of a young Liza Minelli.

Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story (2025)

An energetic and revealing portrait of Liza Minnelli that balances career highs, personal struggles, and the force of her singular stage presence.

Woman running in green skirt and yellow top with a fur coat on, her arm is raised and she is smiling.

Köln 75 (2023)

A propulsive, sharply observed portrait of a pivotal moment in music history, driven by performance and urgency. It reflects the kind of ambitious, contemporary storytelling that defines our past members-only screenings.

A black and white film still of three men. Two men are in white costumes with black bowties and one leans on his side in front, he has thick fake eyebrows and a fake mustache.

A Night at the Opera (1935)

The Marx Brothers at their most anarchic, firing off rapid-fire gags and musical sabotage inside the world of high opera, with comedy that still feels startlingly modern.

Still from the movie Sunlight.

Sunlight (2025)

A quiet, emotionally attentive film that explores intimacy, distance, and the small moments that shape relationships, told with restraint and sensitivity.

Still from the Documentary Secret Mall Apartment.

Secret Mall Apartment (2025)

A stranger-than-fiction documentary about artists secretly living inside a shopping mall, blending creativity, obsession, and the allure of hidden spaces.

A film still of a woman looking's face against a blue backdrop, she looks forward with a solemn face.

Hyenas (1992)

Djibril Diop Mambéty’s sharp, satirical adaptation of Dürrenmatt’s The Visit, using dark humor and allegory to examine money, justice, and collective morality.
