Remaining Native

Milwaukee Film Festival

Living on the Yerington Paiute reservation in Northwest Nevada, Ku Stevens is the sole distance runner in his school, yet longs to be seen by his dream school, the University of Oregon. As Ku trains, he is reminded of his great-grandfather, who, as a child, ran 50 miles across the desert to escape an Indian boarding school. As generational traumas endured by his ancestors layer over his training, will he be able to push past them to victory?

Guests are expected for Q&As following the screenings on May 5 and 6.
