Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World

Director: Catherine Bainbridge, Alfonso Maiorana

Film Summary

Sound Vision | 1:43 | 2017 | USA | | View Website

What do Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Patton, and Mildred Bailey all have in common? Other than musical virtuosity, they share Native American heritage. Rumble seeks to rectify the erasure of indigenous peoples from our musical history, showing their influence on rock 'n' roll, jazz, blues, and everything in between. A panoply of legends provide color and context (ranging from Martin Scorsese to Iggy Pop, Taj Mahal to Tony Bennett) alongside rollicking live performances and archival footage that help draw a straight line from Wray's defiant sound to those standing tall at Standing Rock.
