Carl Bogner, a beloved Milwaukee film community member, is battling cancer. We asked Carl to select a film to screen, and he chose NIAGARA! All proceeds from this screening will be donated to his ongoing fight. One of the few Technicolor examples of film noir, NIAGARA is a 1953 box office hit directed by Henry Hathaway that helped make a star of Marilyn Monroe, cast against type as a femme fatale.
Honeymooners Jean Peters and Max Showalter travel to Niagara Falls and establish an acquaintance with the couple in the cabin next door – Monroe and Joseph Cotton – without realizing the troubled relationship of their neighbors. Infidelity, mistaken identity, and murder follow in short order amid the breathtaking scenery captured by cinematographer Joseph MacDonald.
