Carl Bogner, a beloved Milwaukee film community member, is battling cancer. We asked Carl to select a film to screen, and he chose NIAGARA! All proceeds from this screening will be donated to his ongoing fight. One of the few Technicolor examples of film noir, NIAGARA is a 1953 box office hit directed by Henry Hathaway that helped make a star of Marilyn Monroe, cast against type as a femme fatale.
Honeymooners Jean Peters and Max Showalter travel to Niagara Falls and establish an acquaintance with the couple in the cabin next door – Monroe and Joseph Cotton – without realizing the troubled relationship of their neighbors. Infidelity, mistaken identity, and murder follow in short order amid the breathtaking scenery captured by cinematographer Joseph MacDonald.
Gather with us to support Carl and have a wonderful time at The Oriental Theatre!
