Join us for a night filled with the best backcountry and winter sports films of the year!
The Backcountry Film Festival is produced each year by Winter Wildlands Alliance as a celebration of the human-powered experience and a gathering place for the backcountry snowsports community. Funds raised at each screening stay in the local community to support human-powered recreation and conservation efforts, winter education and avalanche/safety programs and to raise awareness of winter management issues. Immerse yourself in a night of films that capture the spirit of winter. Adventure, environment and climate, youth outdoors, ski culture- you’ll find it all in this award winning lineup.

The Backcountry Film Festival is hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Outdoor Pursuits, a co-curricular outdoor recreation program that provides outdoor recreation experiences and outdoor education opportunities for UW-Milwaukee students. UWM Outdoor Pursuits also offers learning opportunities and certification courses for the broader community.
If you choose to contribute at the ticket price of Student Scholarship Supporter ($20), your extra funds will go directly to a student scholarship that provides better access to outdoor programs for UW-Milwaukee students that would otherwise struggle to participate in outdoor recreation. Applicants are awarded assistance based on applications that reflect these three criteria: level of financial need, why they seek to participate, and what they hope to gain from the experience. All students are welcome to apply who identify significant financial barriers to participation in outdoor recreation programs.
