We are happy to announce the films selected to take home audience and jury awards from the 2020 Milwaukee Film Festival! During the all-virtual Milwaukee Film Festival, movie watchers were able to rate the films they viewed to determine winners of the coveted Allan H. (Bud) and Suzanne L. Selig Audience Awards, given to the top feature-length and short films from the Festival. 

Funding and filmmaking assistance were also awarded to winners of the Cream City Cinema Jury Award with support from John Axford and winners of the Documentary Jury Award thanks to Christine Symchych and Jim McNulty. Both awards were determined by independent juries made up of industry members external from Milwaukee Film. 


Allan H. (Bud) and Suzanne L. Selig Audience Award winners recognized include— 

    Us Kids (2020 / USA / Dir. Kim A. Snyder)  

  • BEST SHORT (tie): 

Selfish (2019 / Canada and Taiwan / Dir. PoChien Chen)  

The Quintet of the Sunset (2018 / China / Dir. Jie Weng)  

NOTE: Both short titles will return to Sofa Cinema as part of our Shorts: Best of Fest program opening 11/27!


Juried award winners recognized include— 


Growing Up Milwaukee (Dir. Tyshun Wardlaw) - $7,500  

I've Been Afraid (Dir. Cecelia Condit) - $2,500 

Ray Nitti Presents "Champion Style: A Jade Charon Dance Film" (Dir.  Jade "Charon" Robertson) - $2,500 

Special mentions: Ringolevio (Dir. Kristin Peterson), Dad's Apple (Dir. Emir Cakaroz) 



Landfall (Dir. Cecilia Aldarondo) - $5,000 

Special mention: maɬni – towards the ocean, towards the shore (Dir. Sky Hopinka)
