Seems like only yesterday we were ending our 2015 film festival. All of the sudden it's April, and we're ramping up for 2016's epic Milwaukee Film Festival. Which means we need to start filling some very important positions to make this annual event possible: PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR Seasonal position • Starts: May 2  • Ends: Oct 14 (application review begins April 18) YOUTH EDUCATION COORDINATOR Seasonal, part-time position • Starts: May 16 • Ends: Oct 31 (application closes April 26) PUBLIC FORUMS COORDINATOR Seasonal, part-time position • Starts: May 31 • Ends: Oct 21 (application closes May 9) FILMMAKER SERVICES COORDINATOR Seasonal, part-time position

MFF2015 Adds Bay View's Avalon Theater

Photo by Mark Strube. Milwaukee Film announced Thursday the addition of the newly renovated Avalon Theater to the 7th Annual Milwaukee Film Festival, presented by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Did you know that the 2015 Milwaukee Film Festival call for entries is officially open? Well, it is, and that means you should submit your film! For the fourth year in a row, we are offering free submission for all films and promising to award at least $16,000 in cash awards this year. For reals. To continue to inspire and promote filmmaking in southeastern Wisconsin, we also expanded our Cream City Cinema program category eligibility requirements. Our 15-day festival continues with wide-ranging feature films, shorts programs, education screenings, post-film conversations, and insightful panel discussions. Milwaukee Film is also thrilled to announce that Bud and Sue Selig have renewed their support of the Milwaukee Film Festival for another three consecutive years, pledging $150,000 annually for 2015, 2016, and 2017. The 6th annual Milwaukee Film Festival may be over but there's still plenty to celebrate, including the announcement of the Allan H. (Bud) and Suzanne L. Selig Audience Award winners. Our wonderful festival attendees cast their ballots and the winners are: Feature Film: Alive Inside (Director: Michael Rossato-Bennett) Short Film: The Numberlys (Directors: William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg) This year’s festival presented 275 films from 63 countries at four venues and on five screens and saw 16% growth in overall event attendance–64,187 in 2014, compared to 55,194 in 2013. Festival guests (filmmakers, actors, film subjects, panelists and critics), bring with them the opportunity for audience members to engage--not only with the creators and stars--but with the films themselves through interaction and a deeper level of connection.
