HIGH SCHOOL FILMMAKING COURSE // TEEN SCREEN SELECTION COMMITTEE
Before signing up for thw 2021 course, check out our recap of 2020!
About the Filmmaking Course:
Have these strange times given you a million strange new ideas/the urge to document/extra time to finally make your cinematic masterpiece? Looking for professional instruction and peer collaboration to make this happen? Our 20-week filmmaking intensive will provide you with a brilliant film instructor to guide you from idea creation to production to editing and post-production, to create original documentary or live action films. You'll also have a dynamic cohort of emerging filmmakers from all around Milwaukee--with whom you'll meet virtually on a weekly basis---to motivate one another, share ideas, and collaborate with. After the course's completion, students will premiere their final project during or surrounding the 2021 Milwaukee Film Festival! This course runs from late January to June 1.
About Teen Screen Selection Committee:
Do you love film? Like, LOVE film, as in, carefully curating triple-features for pizza night, always making recommendations for friends, not-so-patiently waiting for the Oriental Theatre doors to reopen so you can watch a film as the cinema gods intended (and the only way David Lynch approves of) kind of love?? Eager to share that enthusiasm with others? Teen Screen Selection Committee is for you. This selection committee will meet weekly for eight sessions--expect to commit an hour per meeting, plus a few hours per week of viewing films on your own outside of those meetings--from February-March with the goal of selecting films for the 2021 Milwaukee Film Festival's Teen Screen program. There will also be additional sessions before and during the fest (with opportunities to host virtual filmmaker Q&As!) making the commitment about 30 hours total.
We plan to schedule these programs so that they don't overlap, allowing for you to participate in both!
These programs are FREE for all participants, thanks to generous grant support from Wisconsin Arts Board and The Herzfeld Foundation. Both programs are virtual to ensure the safety of all involved.
This application will close on January 14 and all applicants will be notified of their status by January 18.
If you have questions about this application or either program, please email Marielle (email@example.com) to find out more!
