We Are As Gods

MKE Film Festival

Stewart Brand, the visionary founder of the Whole Earth Catalog, gets an overdue profile from MFF science doc alum maestros Alvarado and Sussberg (BILL NYE: SCIENCE GUY, THE IMMORTALISTS). As a prominent hippie in 1968, Brand first published what Steve Jobs called “Google in paperback form." Now in his 80s, he continues to influence culture and stoke debate in biotechnology. Unfettered access, memorable archival footage, and candid interviews combine to compellingly chart Brand’s dramatic course from counterculture hero to cyberculture icon.
