The Garden

MKE Film Festival

This retelling of Adam and Eve delves into issues of consumption, religion, exploitation, abuse, environmental strain, and the danger of a single story. A group of women who are inhabiting the earth are suddenly exposed to the patriarchy when the world gives birth to man. After he joins the women on earth, he destroys and consumes their female-oriented culture, the nature that surrounds them, and even their dog. After the women are exposed to his abusive power tactics, the flowers turn on him, becoming a snake and biting his Adam's apple. As he dies, the many flowers that he had consumed began to grow from his bones. As the story comes to a close, the woman breaks away his rib and carves it into a goddess figure.
