Blowin' Up

Created as an antidote to the broken way our criminal justice system treats sex workers, an experimental court in Queens attempts a unique and empathetic approach to women brought in on prostitution charges: Complete a series of free counseling sessions and have your record expunged. Giving voice to these oftcriminalized women—frequently survivors of abuse, trafficking, or other systemic violences—Blowin' Up is an important look into the intimate stories and day-to-day drama of this humane courtroom on the vanguard of the alternative justice system.
