Yuli

Sponsored by: Lacey Sadoff Foundation

Yuli has no interest in ballet but his father and teachers see the extraordinary talent he possesses. Rising to international fame, he must leave Cuba, his family, culture and identity behind. Inspired by the true story of Afro-Cuban ballet star Carlos Acosta and featuring stunning choreography, this deeply felt drama explores cultural intersections and the power of dance and artistry.

"Crafted with passion, integrity and determination, much like Acosta himself."
- Little White Lies

"The genius in the film is in how each section feeds each other, and indeed needs each other (the dance comments on the drama, and vice versa), and produces a wholly original and deeply affecting movie."
- Times (UK)

"Superstar Cuban ballet dancer Carlos Acosta takes us through his life in unusual style in a mix of drama and dance, fiction and reality."
- Time Out
