A young girl finds herself torn between two mothers in this stirring, sun-dappled drama. When Vittoria learns that her nuturing, supportive mother, Tina, is not her biological mother and, in fact, that honor belongs to the town wild child, Angelica, it kicks off a summer of simmering resentments. Angelica seeks out a relationship with her daughter before she skips town, Vittoria finds herself drawn to Angelica's dangerous energy like a moth to flame, and Tina feels her grasp on her family unit slipping through her fingers.
