Chinese botany grad student Zhang Yingying arrived at the University of Illinois in April 2017. By June, she had disappeared. One part true crime and one part elegy, Yingying's former classmate Jiayan "Jenny" Shi reconstructs Yingying's homesick, tentative days in Illinois in this feature debut. Using her diary as a guide, Shi hopes not only to find some semblance of justice for a truly horrific crime, but also to capture the spirit lost.
