El Salvador has some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the world, with women who suffer a miscarriage sometimes being charged with murder. While serving a 30-year sentence after the death of her child, Teodora Vásquez becomes a spokesperson for “The Seventeen,” a group of working-class women all serving time for their supposed crime. A stark warning of just how far governments can go in controlling women's bodies, FLY SO FAR is a vital document of oppression.
