Sleepwalk With Me @ Oriental Theatre (Opens Friday, Sept 7)
(dir. Mike Birbiglia & Seth Barrish, USA, 2012)
A few years ago, comedian Mike Birbiglia told a story live at The Moth about his wildly spectacular sleepwalking incidents. It was then broadcast on This American Life, and became a book, an album, and a one-man show. Now, thanks to the producers of This American Life, it’s a major motion picture. One that earned an Audience Award at Sundance, too. People in Milwaukee have been clamoring on the Twitters to see this for weeks. The day is finally here!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show @ Oriental Theatre (Saturday, Sept 8 at Midnight)
(dir. Jim Sharman, USA, 1975)
If you’re wondering why all the film purists you know just let out a collective “Damn it, Janet,” it’s because the most famous transsexual in Transylvanian history is about to go digital. This Saturday marks the final time the Oriental will use their workhorse of a 35mm reel to show the longest-running midnight musical of all time. From here on out, Meatloaf will be more crystal clear than ever. (Now there’s a sentence we never thought we’d type.)

Elles @ UWM Union Theatre (Opens Friday, Sept 07 at 7 PM & 9 PM)
(dir. Malgorzata Szumowska, France, 2011)
This provocative French film (and festival favorite) makes its Milwaukee debut this weekend at UWM’s Union Theatre. Juliette Binoche plays a well-off mother and investigative journalist reasearching the world of student prostitution. What she learns from her two interview subjects not only defies her expectations, but has her questioning her own comfortable life and marriage as well.
