We wanted to send out a quick and heartfelt congratulations to all the MFF alums that appeared on the final nomination list for the 2013 Oscars early this morning. We're pulling for you all and very grateful to have shared your films with the Milwaukee audience. Listen carefully on February 24 - there will be a dull roar coming from the Midwest cheering you on.
The underdog in the pack is Beats of the Southern Wild, which was produced by Wauwatosa native Mike Raisler and was first seen in Milwaukee by our members at our monthly Members-Only Screening in July. (Not a member yet? Fix that.) Check out photos from that evening here, which also featured Raisler (and his charming parents) in person.
Also making a strong showing across multiple categories is Silver Linings Playbook, which was our Super Secret Members Screening during the festival this year. (See a pattern here? Yes, yes. Resistance is futile, movie lovers.)
