Your June members screening film is... In the House.
Winner of the grand prize (The Golden Shell) at the San Sebastian International Film Festival (as well as several others), In The House is a clever, comedic and thrilling story of the lines that blur between life and literature.
The latest film by acclaimed French director, Francois Ozon (Potiche)-- our first Members Screening director to return!-- is the story of a teenage boy who insinuates himself into the house of a fellow student from his literature class and writes about it in essays for his French teacher. Faced with this gifted and unusual pupil, the teacher rediscovers his enthusiasm for his work, but the boy's intrusion will unleash a series of uncontrollable events.
"French director François Ozon can usually be counted on for dark irony of the juiciest sort... But the filmmaker has an especially deft touch when a dash of comedy is mixed in. He uses this to delicious effect in his latest, In the House." - Los Angeles Times
The screening takes place on Wednesday, June 26 at 7 pm at the Landmark Oriental Theatre.
